We’ve released a new demo version. This is our first demo release since we got kickstarter funding. You’ll be amazed at how much the game has changed. This demo is intended to be our final demo release (bug fixes aside) and is based off the final version of the first 4 missions from the game.

Developed toward the end of the first Revi war, the Sagaris medium fighter has become the backbone of the UEA fleet. With four class B and two class C hardpoints, the Sagaris is capable of carrying an impressive array of both anti-fighter and anti-capship weaponry.

The Talwar light fighter has been in service since the first Revi war. The ship is in the process of being phased out, but it is still a favorite among pilots. Most have been sold to private militias protecting colonies within the Vega sector, however some still remain in UEA service aboard heavy cruisers and some strike carriers.

I’m being reassigned from the Farragut to the Canopus. A promotion for sure! But there’s something amiss. We just got a full squadron of Saber fighters, the latest out of R&D. They’ve replaced most of our old Talwars. What would a heavy cruiser need with an advanced strike craft like that? Our fighters are primarily used for defense, a fighter like that belongs on a carrier. There’s something else as well, a lot of whispers about an upcoming mission into Revi space. I asked the CAG about it the other day and he flat out denied it. John’s being transferred too, he’s going to the Saratoga. I got a brief look at the transfer roasters, nearly a third of the crew is being reassigned! I recognized a lot of names on that list. They were all from Vega! There’s something going on here and they don’t want us to know about it. I don’t have much time, my shuttle leaves tomorrow morning, I better get packing.
Our hero gets transferred off the Farragut just prior to her secret mission. But don’t worry, he’ll be encountering the Farragut again throughout his travels. Also scheduled is an unlockable simulator “mini-series” which follows the Farragut on her secret mission.

It has been a while since I have posted. This is mainly because we have been busy with bug fixes and details. Nothing much to show off. Today the musicians delivered the final soundtrack and it sounds really good! I am very excited to get the updated music into the game! I’ve also been working lately on improving the launcher and the cockpit-free HUD option in addition to bug fixes. As far as development goes, there are 3 chapters left to create and a handful of simulator missions, but we are finishing up some of the art assets before those chapters will be ready. As most of you have already heard, our Character Artists quit leaving us without any new characters. We have started the search for a new character artist. It is very important for us to replace the characters with improved art, and we will do everything possible to see the character art replaced.
In the meantime, here are a couple desktop wallpapers I created.

Here are a few screenshots from a mission to rescue the Militia ship Mjolnir, which is protecting freighters full of refugees. I take most of my screenshots while I’m play testing a level, usually right after I’ve finished making the mission. It’s difficult to take screenshots and play the game at the same time, especially missions as difficult as this one. The better screenshots that I’ve shown in the past, are usually captured from video. So be prepared to see some more exciting screenshots when I start working on our next promotional trailer. Until then, I grab screenshots when I can while I’m play testing.

I have started work on Chapter 6. Chapter 6 is a short chapter that takes place in the Vega System. The Vega system is the capital of Vega sector. I am aware that Vega is the same sector Wing Commander takes place in, also that a person from Vega would be a “Vegan.” Originally Vega was chosen without the realization that it was where Wing Commander took place. In trying to avoid references to Wing Commander, I accidentally picked a very prominent one. By the time I realized it, I had already decided on a name for the rebel group, the Free Republic of Vega, abbreviated FRV. I liked the FRV so much that I could not part with Vega despite the similarity to Wing Commander. However, since hiring the writer, the story has shifted to the formation of the FRV, rather than taking place after the FRV was formed. So the FRV will only be mentioned toward the end of the game, thus making it a lot less prominent in the game. Furthermore, the people who form FRV are from the Vega sector and will now be known as “Vegan”, this obviously poses a problem. So we are looking to change the name of Vega, but we have not decided on a name yet. So for now I am going to call it Vega System.
During the last war with the Revi, Vega Colony, the largest colony in the Vega sector, was attacked and destroyed by the Revi. The UEA was unable to provide protection because at the same time the Revi were attacking a much larger colony in the Sol Sector, Procyon. The atmosphere of Vega was poisoned, hence the sick purplish color. In the game we are just passing through this sector, which has been long abandoned. Unfortunately the Revi are already here in force. It seems they are everywhere.
